2012-2014

 

The titel of this project is taken from the writer Adriaan van Dis and his book 'Stadsliefde'.

In his book he tells us a lot of little stories of the city of Paris.

With my pictures I tell you a lot about the cities Maastricht and Bordeaux.

 

Still doing research, I met the work of Josef Sudek of 'Smutna Krajina'( Sad Landscape)

of Northwest Bohemia. This project started in 1957 and ended in 1962.

Unfortunately, Josef Sudek never saw this work printed in a book.

The book was only published in 2004. There are 89 photographs of the landscapes of Northwest Bohemia. 

 

I also came to know the work of Alexander Simays.

He was a photographer of the city of Maastricht and worked for the council.

He had to assemble as many pictures as possible to show the changing of the city, just like Eugène Atget.

To take pictures just before the demolishion of monuments was his greatest assignment.

 

These photographers and many other influenced my work tremendously.
