2008-2010

Every year when I hear the swallow, I become homesick. Homesick to Bordeaux.

A city where I spend my childhood. When I left Bordeaux, I left a part of me.

I try to recover this missing part in old buildings.

After several years, I found a new haven, Maastricht.

Walking through Maastricht gives me the feeling of being home again.

The city with its buildings and river is more important than the people in it when photographing it.

The people are unsharp but the city is recognizable.

Photographing the city with its details will lead tot the old city and its river.

These are important starting points.

I've tried to photograph the city but the feelings were obstructing it.

When I did some research on the work of Eugène Atget 'Paris', I realised that I had to change

my approach of the city. This was a very important turningpoint in the project.

From then on, I took my pinhole camera (self handmade) and I started to take pictures of Bordeaux and Maastricht.

With the first results I knew this was the way to do it.

It surprised me and others.
